Fellas, I need some help,
I've got a 307 Chev with a broken pushrod.
I want to see how this motor runs before I spend the time/money freshening it up.If, after obtaining a pushrod, I find its a good motor then I'll invest in some Manley pushrods or similar and better quality parts here and there.
If it isn't useable as is or with a freshen up then I'll go with a running 308 I have.
I only need one pushrod to replace the broken one I have.I don't care what it looks like, what colour it is or how dirty it is.
Can someone look for one for me please if they think they might have one.
Happy to pay for a pushrod and postage costs.
Contact me at allamot@gotalk.net.au
All constructive help appreciated,
Thanks.

I've noticed that my 'gassed' Black 6 seems to have a bit more poke in cooler and/or wetter weather conditions, than it has on a hot dry day.
Nevertheless, the LPG fitter says that a 'cold air intake' would be a negative and NOT a positive for a motor on 'gas'. (He didn't seem to have time for my cold climate experience, so I just didn't press him on the details at the time.)
What do our resident 'gas' experts think about this?
Any advantage to me making a cold-air set up?
Again, mucho gracias for some constructive advice!
HKing of Cold-Air-in-Bris.
P.S. Is there a 'LPG Enthusiast' forum or site that's worth a look? the only sites I've found are all about Buy-Buy or Gas-is-God's-enviro-gift hype sites.

For every bit of advice I've seen for frequent changes of oil, plugs and leads, I've also heard about how each of these can give incredibly long and effective service without replacement.
Who can explain one way or the other about this stuff please?
1. Oil: Its the additives that degrade not the base oil itself. Get a high quality oil, change filters every 5000k or so and that oil will go for 15-25000 km without a reduction in its lubing function.
2. If the electrode is clean, square and gapped correctly a plug should keep on sparking efficiently for years.
3. Leads - replace 'em every 12 months or keep them til they fail. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have driven for 5+ yrs on a set without any apprarent problem.

Fellas,
I've got a running, complete HK 307 Chev that has a 7448 list 350 Holley 2bbl attached to it ATM.
Carby isn't in the best of condition, doesn't run particularly well.
Have been offered a rebuilt WW Stromberg from a 253 for $0 from a mate.
Anybody know whether the 253 WW Stromberg will bolt straight to the standard 2 barrel chev cast iron inlet manifold??
Only reason I need to know is my mate will have to post the carby to me and don't want him to go to the trouble of posting it if it doesn't fit as is.
Or will I need an adaptor??
All constructive help appreciated.

Gday, i have been to this site before, and it has always helped me to learn about the cars i was buying. I have had a HK GTS 307 for a couple of years and have recently started to strip it for restoration. When i pulled the bonnet seal off from the firewall i noticed that it had written on it ... DO NOT PUT ON LINE M*T L***N*..... . mY QUESTION IS WHAT MIGHT THIS HAVE MEANT. THE STARS REPRESENT THE RUST THAT HAS DELETED SOME OF THE LETTERS. THE CAR WAS BUILT IN ADELAIDE AND IS WARRICK YELLOW. IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL , BUT I AM JUST CURIOUS ABOUT IT.

On the off chance anyone here has one for sale:
Wanted to buy:
Saginaw 4 speed (close ratio) to suit HK/T/G 308. Would be nice if it still had the shifter and gear knob as well.
Will pickup in Victoria or could probably arrange to have it picked up in Perth. Strictly COD / Pickup.
Cheers,
McOz

Drove the HK for the first time on the weekend, 5 years of work, not 100% original, but the way I wanted it to be. 307, powerglide, power steer 9" diff. Thanks to this site it was pretty easy, a wealth of info, and good for a laugh at times. The plan is to drive it to work at least one day a week. Another old holden back on the road.

I'm contemplating pulling the HX off the road and squeezing the familly into a K-T-G panel van but...
To get an engineer report (Victoria) for adding a wagon back seat and seatbelts, am i required to have flip forward front seats ?
How much would i be looking at to get the rear hubs redrilled to HQ pattern ?....or would you know a place in Vic that i could call for a price ?
Will HQ-Z 8 x 14 hotwires with 225-60 and 235-60 tyres fit the panno if i roll the guards ?
[Edit]... additional questions
Has any of you fitted or sized up a UC salsbury into a K-T-G before ?
Would extractors out of a VK fit into a K-T-G engine bay without issues ?
Hope ya's can help :-)

Gday everyone I was hoping that some one out there could give me some advice on swapping my steering to a manual Rack set up in my HK brougham (original power steer) I know its been done out there plenty of times in a HK so i would like to know what rack/column people used any mods needed like brackets or anything will i have to weld some brackets to the X member or can i use original mounts. Ive heard i can use a VL rack that you can buy brackets for any one know about this and would i use a VL column cause i figure VL stuff would be pretty easy to get hold of.
Also is the original brougham power setup pretty rare? would it be worth much if maybe i put it on ebay? Does anyone out there wanna swap me a manual rack setup for the original power?
any help would be great thanks fellas

Can anyone explain what would be required (parts or manufacturing etc) to install a what seems to be floating accellator pedal? Standard HK Monaro as Dusty has explained is a roating rod see pictures, but I would prefer the floating style. Can I take this from a later model Holden?
Seen this at a motor show what seems to be a modified pedal
http://gallery.oldho...
This is the linkage for standard install

I have other pictures if required.
