Okay, I have a HJ premier, which i have taken the 6cyl auto out of, dropped in a 308 and a HZ M21, with the pull type clutch. So far so gone alright, only a few dozen little problems. I have examined the firewall and found the spot where the clutch push rod should go through (for a hq- hz push type clutch), and drilled through that, then put in the HZ clutch pedal and found its about 3 inches lower than where it obviously should be. But i wanted to know if anyone would have a clue where
a. I do need to drill
b. Is there a bracket inside the cabin that holds the cable and not just the firewall?

Also anyone had any dramas with solex locks? Drivers and boot went in perfect, but the passanger seemed sloppy.

If anyone could assist it would be very much appreciated.

I purchased a hx panel van earlier this year and have been told it could have a brock motor. The plates say it came with a 5L and turbo 400.
I just want to find out if there is a way to identify it as a brock motor, it has a brock 5L air cleaner and crome rocker covers but these could of easily been changed

any ideas

So i think ive finally isolated the problem with my non working speedo..have checked the speedo cable and its not working this time...so was wondering if anyone had a speedo cable for a VK calais V8 auto that they would part with?

I'm trying to remove the turbo 350 in my panel van but it has turned into a bit of a nightmare. For some reason I cant get the crossmember out, I tried to push down towards the back of the car but it only moves about 3 inches then it hits on a support that goes accross the whole car and follows the shape of the transmission tunnel. I cant push it towards the front either as it hits the tranny pan. How am I surposed to get it to clear the ledge that it bolts onto.

just got my car back from the local holden dealership my car is a 1982 vh commodore ive had it in having a warrenty repair fixed the problem with this modle commodore is the floor pans crack out at the rear of the drivers seat.
i went to replace the carpetin my vh the other week to find my ones floor cracked quite badly so i had remembered that in 1985 their had been a recall on early model commodore for this fault so i rang my local holden dealership to have them say know worries drop it off i did some assesor from holden came had a look at it gave it the ok and my vh comodores floor pan was repaired a fixed free of charge on warrenty.

I have a HJ Monaro. During a restore, the chassis number was partly removed / painted and I need to find some way of checking what it was (would Infrared or Xray work?)I have tried the steel wool to remove the paint but it hasnt been successful. Any help would be appreciated

Im after getting some tyres for the hq GTS rim's ive got sitting in storage before I put them on the panelvan.
Checking online I couldnt find anywhere that did them in the size I need, which from what i've learn I guess is.
225/65/14 and 7" rims? Does that sound right?, if not what would you recommend me getting, I just want a semi fat nice set of tyres.
Any suggestions on a good cheap tyre place around Melbourne?

Hey Guys.

I am looking at converting from floor shift to column.

As I want to run a 4spd, I can't use the standard column.

I am thinking something along the lines of a hiace or early jap car.

Does anybody have any ideas for a 4 or 5spd column that coult be adapted to suit the Aussi linkages?

Hey i just bought a hz pannie as a project car, but it is an old car and hasnt been touched since stock what obvious mods will i need to do to the running gear, suspension motor eg.

I have a VK calais V8 auto and the elec dash is buggered in it and it basically only displays the RPM no speedo or odo....ive tried replacing the dash and sensor and have had no luck in getting it working...

The dash for as long as i can remember has displayed "Low coolant" in the warnings panel....a week ago it said "oil warning" i immediately checked the oil level and its fine...now its permenatly saying "monitoring" .... im presuming that its just the dash stuffing up but what on earth does it mean by monitoring? does it always normally display that?

Building up a decent HX and bought a statesman for the disc brake diff. Statesman is a HZ so has RTS. I was gonna fit the rear swaybar to my car but was told it makes them really stiff in the back so much so that when you throw them sideways they understeer. I am building this car to have some fun in but do not want something that is gonna stop it sliding when I want it to. Anyone had any experience with these swaybars??

it is a turbo 350 box, rear tyres are 14 x 60 x 245 and the diff gears are 2.75

Hi all , I have bought a HX Ute (GTS Dash fitted). Now the problem is , with the headlight switch pulled on there are NO dash lights. all fuses are ok. BUT lets say it not mattering whether the lights are set on either being Hi or Lo Beam (say Lo for instance) as soon as you were to flick the headlight lever to change the beam at the contact point the dash lights ALSO the light on the auto trans shift light ALSO the interion lights all come on at the same time But soon as you let the lever go they all go off again. This is the only time the shift light & interior lights work also when that lever is flicked. VERY CONFUSED . any help grateful Trent- 0438177776. p.s. - I have also tried replacing the Hi/Lo lever also Headlight switch , still no difference. ???????

Hi all! Please help! I have several questions.

I'm trying to put a HX GTS dash into a HZ Prem with a VK 308 with electronic ignition. It's driving me mad I just spent a whole day achieving nothing. Here is a few questions...

(1) I have traced wiring diagrams and have I found the brown wire from the gts loom and it says that needs to go to the dizzy. To the neg or pos??

(2) My dizzy has a green and a light brown wire coming from it where do they go (I'm assuming ign coil??) I'm confused because the wiring diagram only shows a black lead coming from the dizzy, why is this??

(3) What the hell is an anti dieseling solenoid?? According to the wire diagram it runs from the same plug that carries the tacho(brown)wire in the engine bay. Where would it be located??

This is what happens with that metal mend stuff after 2 or 3 years and 50 000 Km. Doh :(

hi does anyone know if holden made red/brownish v8 tail shafts? if so what they were for?
