Okay, I have a HJ premier, which i have taken the 6cyl auto out of, dropped in a 308 and a HZ M21, with the pull type clutch. So far so gone alright, only a few dozen little problems. I have examined the firewall and found the spot where the clutch push rod should go through (for a hq- hz push type clutch), and drilled through that, then put in the HZ clutch pedal and found its about 3 inches lower than where it obviously should be. But i wanted to know if anyone would have a clue where
a. I do need to drill
b. Is there a bracket inside the cabin that holds the cable and not just the firewall?
Also anyone had any dramas with solex locks? Drivers and boot went in perfect, but the passanger seemed sloppy.
If anyone could assist it would be very much appreciated.
Cheers, Elliott
clutch cable
ok the clutch cable cames in directly infront of the top of the pedal where there is the bracket that holds the cable in the pedal
so the hole i need to drill
so the hole i need to drill is right beside the brake booster? and There is a seperate bracket inside the cabin that holds the clutch cable in place? not just the hook on the pedal?
Cheers, Elliott
HZ pedal in HJ
Hey Elliot,
The pedal box( bracket in steering column tunnel that the pedals bolt through )is different on the the earlier models HQ & HJ than the later HX & HZ, an HZ pedal will sit at the wrong height when fitted in an HJ, you can cut and shut to swap but big strip down to cut and re-weld safely plus you need a donor, far easier to use an HJ pedal set up which will drop straight in.
Cheers
Ken
